- trim wick 1/8" (0.3cm) prior to each lighting. keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and other debris. keep wick centered and away from container wall
- if flame smokes, extinguish, retrim the wick and check for drafts; burn in a well-ventilated room, avoid drafty areas
